Nag Hammadi style binding, gold goat leather, stab sewn, acrylic gold edges, blind and gold tooling, lapis and moonstone gems inset, three ties. Codex design by Brenda Cornett. Text inkjet printed and illuminated by Sharon Mehdi.
The manuscripts known as Nag Hammadi Codices were found in 1945, buried in an earthen jar near the Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi. Found with intact bindings, they have been dated from the middle of the 4th century A.D. The cover of the original Codex II is made of leather, was lined with papyrus, and decorated with cold tooling and pen and ink designs.
